Good Quality Good food! Delicious easy risotto!
I havent canned yet but I have tried 3 recipes. Everything came out great. I especially loved the risotto. I started it in a smaller stainless steel pan sauteeing the onions and then rice then adding most of the liquid until it was all boiling then I inserted the whole pan into the pressure cooker on the rack (small pan is uncovered). It cooked for 10 minutes without standing there stirring it constantly for 30 minutes! It was perfect! The ribs were also amazing! I just put the dry rub on and put them on the rack then drizzled a little bbq sauce over them. (Different sized ribs need different times but the manual has recommended times and many recipes). A short time later the ribs were tender and yummy. I put them in the broiler just to make them a little crusty. Amazing! I cant wait to get cooking this weekend!

pressure cooker
I picked this out for a Mothers Day gift at the prompting of one of my patients. He recommended the Fagor brand as he is a nutritionist at a local grocery chain and cooks with only a pressure cooker and a grill. I have not used for canning yet but should be pretty simple as there is a dvd included. The pressure cooker itself is easy to use and is safer than our grandmothers and great grandmothers pressure cooker. Following the instructions my dishes have come out nice and quick with lots of flavor. I did try ribs in the pot first and then grilled. The family loved them. Good choice. :2010-09-15 04:54:19
Im glad I went for the 10-quart but wish I had gotten the steamer set
I had a really hard time deciding which Fagor pressure canner to buy and I almost wish now that Id purchased the 10-quart one with the steamer insert instead of this set. Its not that this isnt a fantastic set but I already had everything I needed to can with except for the canning rack. I realized after it all arrived that I probably could have found something suitable to fit this pressure canner at the thrift store. Now Im using it to cook all kinds of things and I really want/need that steamer basket!
What I want to say is that I was afraid of pressure cookers from childhood experiences in the fifties. Once my mother blew up her pressure cooker splattering super-hot food all over the kitchen. Ill never forget it. It was like a bomb going off! Then one day she couldnt get it open at all and wound up throwing it out in the garden to see if it would ever loosen up enough to open it.
